Found the following info in the lotro forums:

"If you have a legendary that can reach level 50, but it hasn't yet, and it's already past level 20, you need to get it to level 50 BEFORE Siege of Mirkwood launches or you WILL lose out on the level 50 legacy.

The reason for this is that instead of gaining legacies at 10, 30 and 50, legendaries will gain legacies at 10, 20 and 30. There is no distinction between pre-SoM and post-SoM legendaries when reforging. Instead of gaining a new legacy at level 50, one of the existing legacies will recieve a 1-tier upgrade instead.

This is probably a minor concern for DPS classes that will quickly swap to the higher-DPS SoM weapons, but for class items or first/second ages with great legacies that you may want to keep for awhile, you probably don't want them to have fewer legacies than they're capable of having.

With 12 days until the launch, and only six bounty runs required to max out, there's still time. Spread the word to your kinmates."

Thanks for the heads-up.

Another tip that I intend to do is about the XP tokens that I have stored.  With Mirkwood, I understand that these are nearly useless as are the legendary shards I have stored.  Mirkwood LI's won't use these current blue XP tokens. There are new legendary 'somethings' to replace the shards for crafting weapons (SA).  So, the tip I was given was to max out as many SA LIs as possible.  Upon reaching Mirkwood, I will then deconstruct these and gain the new XP tokens.  I believe the shard replacements can only be gained by skirmishes and special drops, and it is only these new 'shard replacements' that are used to craft SA LI's.  Therefore, I will use all of my horded shards, craft a ton of SA's with them, use bounty tokens to max them out, and wait for Mirkwood.  Once I get my new Mirkwood weapon, I can use the Mirkwood XP tokens to level my new weapon.

Hope this helps.  My focus now is to run as many bounty runs as I can, max out SA's, and hold till Mirkwood.

Any advise from others who were in beta?
