Welcome to the Tinnu uin Galadhrim!

We are so pleased to have you as our new kin, and we do hope that you find enjoyment and companionship in the great group of folks who share the values of our kinship.  I wanted to take a moment and provide some helpful suggestions of things you might do to discover and take advantage of all of the benefits of being a member of this band of elves and elf-friends.  So, in no particular order, here is a list of some of the things that you might find entertaining and add to your enjoyment of the game.

Others may post similar suggestions and tips for new members in this thread as well.  If you have questions of any kind, please just use this thread as a place to get familiar and find the knowledge you need.

  • Develop a back story and biography of your character, and then begin acting in the game as if you were that character - role playing.  There are several sites to aid you in doing this if you are new to the added fun of becoming a character in the Tolkien stories.  Here is a post by Orophor to help you a bit.  http://tinnu-uin-galadhrim.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=179.0
  • Join one of the crafting Houses in our Great Hall of Crafts as soon as you know you vocation and interests.  There is an entire section in these forums for learning about these Houses and what they are doing.  Each House has a Master of that craft who will aid you and help you learn and advance your craft.  We keep many supplies to assist students of crafts, so be sure to check in with the appropriate House Master and get on their list of students.  Also, all of these Houses provide free services to our kinfolk for their equipment and fashion needs.  Most Masters only ask that you either provide materials needed or simply send resources when you can.  This a valued service to ensure that all of our kin have the highest quality equipment that can be crafted for their level.
  • Consider joining the Galadhrim Free Light Band and play an instrument in the game at parties, in the square and everywhere on tour.  While the Band is not as active as it once was, several of us are eager to start playing again.  Can't play a note?  No problems.  It can be totally automatic from a huge database of songs.  And we can play together synchronized and in harmony. Contact Aelanor, Fireborn, me, or any musician to find out more.
  • Check with a Kin Hunter/b] and get setup at all of the stables around Eriador so you can travel by horse to those remote places.
  • Post quest needs on the Quest thread so you can get the help you want ahead of time, especially for those difficult epics and tough quests.  We are all eager to return the kindness that we received when we needed this help.  So don't be bashful and ask for someone to join you in your fellowship.  Unlike other games, LoTRO doesn't penalize lower levels for teaming with higher levels to do quests.  XP is distributed fairly.
  • Ask lots of questions of us so we can show how smart we are and either give you a helpful answer or point out a great website to guide you.  We all ask questions of each other and share information freely.  No one minds answering especially if the questions are easy.
  • Learn a little sindarin and add that to your RP fun.  Here is a site for quick simple phrases to get your started.  http://www.arwen-undomiel.com/elvish/phrases.html

We are so pleased to have you with us, and we look for every opportunity to share with and aid you in your enjoyment of this wonderful game.  Welcome to Middle Earth and to that band of elves and elf-friends called the Tinnu uin Galadhrim.

Fair Mistress Perila,

The Band (Galadhrim Free Light Band) is playing at our coming CELEBRATION, and Aelanor is the band leader for this occasion.  Please do let her know of your interest.  With you now, we should have enough folks to play a 5 part harmony of which there are now several on lotro music.  I know she will be delighted to have you join us.

Anyone else who would like to play using the automated (no musical talents required) method of having such fun with our instruments and music, please do let Aelanor know and join the Band.  Music makes the shadows retreat!

Most gracious greetings one and all,
I am Ardithiel from the Strength in Numbers Kinship, we are in alliance with your Kinship. I heard of  your beautiful forum from your member, the elegant and kind Orophor, who I call friend. I know a few of you and hope to meet more of you through questing and raiding together.  Please feel free to contact me if you ever need assistance or a member to fill out a quest or raid group.

I've been a member of LOTRO since the Beta Weekend and am a Founder and deep lover of the game.
My Main character is Ardithiel (nick name Ardi) ~ LvL 50 ~ Elf  ~ Champion,
I have several other characters I play, but imagine you have an area where I can post their information for quests and raids.

Friend Orophor, much thanks for the invitation to join your Kinship's forum, Ardi

Welcome to the forum, Ardithiel. I think the area (which you seem have already found) is the Quests sub-forum:

Please, let us know if you have any questions at all.

Well met!

Le suilon, Good Ardithiel.  And truly welcome to these forums.  I look forward to sharing adventures with you, being a Fallohide we are not so reluctant to adventure as others.  Meanwhile, as the good Capn says, let us know if we can assist you anytime.

Cheers,

Thank you for such a wonderful introduction to the kinship yesterday. I am very honored to be in such a wonderful kin where people actually role-play. For me the experience of a game such as this should almost require it. If I wanted a game where all I wanted to do was kill, level, kill.. then I would play WOW. I want to immerse myself into the role that I play in game to get a true representation of the world and how my character could influence the outcome or enrich the lives of those around me. Thank you so much for a warm welcome and I look forward to playing with you all. :-)

Hail Keltkin and well met.

It would be a pleasure to bring your wife into the fold as well.  We have very many husband and wife teams in Tinnu so she will find a very welcome group Cheesy

We are glad to call you our kin Keltkin.

I agree we are at our best when we breath the same air as our characters, meaning that while we play, we don't focus simply on the uberloot, or the latest raid-boss, but instead focus on the incredible world we have to play with and the wonderful stories of that world.

Hi.  I'm looking for some fun RP and am interested in joining your kinship for the purpose of adventuring for RP fun instead of leveling, for my (relatively) new (level 13) elven RK (below) named Alduriel, on Nimrodel.  Aldu- is a Quenya prefix referring to the Two Trees of Valinor.

I haven't seen any of your listed officers online to ask, however.  Could Alduriel join the kinship?

- Thanks

Gradivus and Alduriel,

We welcome those who seek to enjoy the RP side of the world of Arda as well as the exciting things in the game.  We are a kinship of elves and elf friends who look for ways to aid our members in their enjoyment and pleasure in playing with us.  I will be online this week-end since I am a part-time warrior and full-time romancer of the beautiful Lilly Penworth.  We will be looking for Alduriel and the opportunity to extend an invitation to her.  If you would drop me a mail note in-game it will help this forgetful hobbit remember.

On another note, this Sunday at 7.30pm EST in Esteldin, the tailors of our kinship are sewing for kinfolks (in character).  So, if Alduriel would enjoy a new outfit, just drop by for a fitting and fashion consultation.  Do bring as many hides as you can spare of any kind to help us.  If you find that you are in too much danger traveling to Esteldin just now, then send us a tell and we would be happy to escort you safely there and back.

Cheers,
