Legendary Traits and Books

(1/1)

Orophor:
I know many of you may feel that these traits are a long ways off. As one that wishes I had focused on the books for these traits earlier so I could equip them now rather than stare at my empty trait slot in frustration, I thought I would give the kinship the heads-up on the legendary traits and books.

Each class has four legendary traits, three from books, and one that you get after completing your level 45 class quests. You have two slots, so you must decide which traits to equip and that may influence which books you try to get. Each book (not pages) starts a deed, the deed tells you to talk with an NPC in Rivendell/Gloin's Camp for your class, afterwards you must find eight missing pages to complete the book deed and earn the trait. Like any other trait, they must be equiped in a open slot a by a bard. Even though you can't work the deeds before level 39, you can horde books and pages before that. Some fortunate souls have actually managed to complete a book before they get their level 41 legendary trait slot. Hopefully this post can make you one of them.

The books themselves are found on "sentient monsters" i.e. orcs, goblins, bandits, dourhands, trolls of level 39 or higher at random. The books can be sold at auction or traded, which is a small comfort to the knowlege that they are very rare and drop at random. If you are lucky enough to find one, there is no assurance that it matches your class. Some people say that the higher the level of the monster, the higher the chance of a page or book dropping, though this is speculation. Another hypothesis is that the longer a given monster has survived, i.e. a relatively unfarmed spawn-point, the better the chance of a book or page dropping. Again this is pure guesswork at this point.

Here is a summary of what the forums and hint-book are saying about the books and pages:

With the Angmar revamp, Book 12 made some changes to how the legendary pages drop. Here's the info straight from MadeOfLions:

Hosklar:
I was very excited about this when I read it yesterday.  Poor Palfo would have had to wait a while before he could have gotten his legendary books off those crazy bat ladies, and the wights in Imlad Bachlorth.  Now he can just wait a bit for Book 12 and get it all done in the respective zones )

Once again, good work Turbine!
