Thanks, Digger!  I have a family gathering this weekend, but I'll try to get online some time.

Thanks for the offer of an outfit, but I'm playing Alduriel very strict RP, so no gifts for her unless they're RP justified by things happening in gameplay. I'm enjoying having her "earn her way" to whatever gear she has.  It's a refreshing change, actually being able to use most of the quest reward gear instead of usually having better critted stuff already!  It makes the rewards, and consequently the quests, that much more satisfying.

I understand few other people (perhaps none) will want to play it that IC, and that's okay, but I'm trying to get the feeling of the old days, the way it was back in '76 when I started with P&P D&D.  I've set other strict RP rules for her as well.  For example, unless it's an NPC escort to quest she won't auto-horse or "instant travel" (maps, acorn, hunter, captain, house, whatever) to any place she or someone in the party doesn't already know how to get to, or any distance where she might possibly have to fight to survive if she walked, or any place there's no IC reason to go to (so no Esteldin yet, I'm afraid).  Just a challenge I've set for myself, to try to play this one really IC, preferably with voicechat, to see if that's possible with LotRO.  :)

Of course, it is possible to play in this manner, and I hope to share and learn from your experiences.  That said, in our kinship there are great craft halls.  One  is called Nothrim uin Tithengalu or House of Little Blessings.  That is our craft hall for tailors.  We train, share patterns, and generally help one another as we learn more of the fine world of fashion in Arda.  As the master of this Hall, it has long been our policy to provide kinfolk new garments in exchange for hides and other materials we use.  These I share with my fellow tailors.

So, the gift you speak of is simply our way of managing our Hall and keeping our craft vital to our shared struggles.  I do not understand how this interferes with your natural experiences, but if so, I accept that.  Last evening several folks enjoyed being measured, consulted, and fitted with new garments.  We also exchanged many new hides and restocked our Hall's warehouse.

It seems to me this is role-playing, but I may not fully understand these things yet.  We were in character and doing our craft.  Everyone joined in and played along for an evening of enjoyment and learning.

Cheers,

Sounds as if it should actually be a good time, its always a rare pleasure catching people RPing in an MMO.  I still game pretty regularly PnP with my pals but I've got to admit I've had more interesting lil bits of RP in LotRO with this kinship than in any MMO I've played to date.
