They're taking the hobbits...
« on: August 13, 2011, 08:25:29 AM »
To Isengard, to Isengard!

Yes, I hear you all groaning, but c'mon, you know we have to do this  ;D

What: They're Taking the Tinnu to Isengard! A grand parade of hobbits and hobbit-escorts through the lands of Enedwaith to the borders of Dunland

When: TBD, but the weekend of Sept 17-18 seems logical, please post any particular day/time you would prefer or if you have any specific times when you are unavailable.

Where: Starting at Fordirith, ending at the entrance to Dunland

Who: Bring any character, preferably one that can safely navigate Enedwaith, but we'll defend any lower level character who wants to participate. If you have a hobbit, please bring it! A few hunters would be good to help with ports. We want as many Tinnu, friends, and allies as possible, so spread the word widely once we set the final date.

Why: Seriously?  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMDh6OEU0Ng

The Plan: To mark the beginning of our dark and perilous journey into the Gap of Rohan, let us gather by the campfire, share poems, short tales, bad jokes, etc. to lift our spirits before we ride into battle. We shall distribute provisions to our troops, and strike fear into the hearts of our enemies by the lighting of fireworks. Finally, we will escort our hobbits on horseback in slow procession to the very edge of Enedwaith. From there, hunters will be available to port you to your next destination, or simply set up camp and wait for the onward path to be opened!

We are a very stylish group of warriors, and we are soon approaching the lands of the great horsemen, so prizes shall be awarded for the best outfit/horse combinations. Start planning your look now!

Volunteers are needed for the following roles: Provisioners (distribute food, beverages, fireworks, pipeweed), Entertainers (musicians, storytellers--please keep your poems/tales brief; I'll do the theme song, and we should have someone read the lament for Eorl the Young), Security Guards (two lvl 65s willing to jump into action to defend the parade against anything we accidentally aggro, so we don't disrupt the procession too much), Donors (party provisions, prizes--I think we have a huge stock of pipeweed in the kin chests so that's one item already covered)

Thoughts? Suggestions? Volunteers? Day/time preferences? Post here or send me in-game mail!

One additional category of volunteers needed: fashion contest judges (1 or 2)

Categories for the contest:

1. I Look Like My Horse: best match to colors, markings, and overall concept

2. I'm Too Sexy For My Horse: the daring fashionista who brings a creative yet coordinated look (Aqualondo will be tough to beat here, but I'm sure others will take on the challenge  :P )

3. My Horse Ate My Outfit: bring out your silly side and show us something truly ridiculous!

4. With a Little Help From My Friends (and their horses): best coordinated pair or group

If you can think of others, let me know. The more winners, the better! Judging will take place as we line up for the parade.

Mistress Tuiliel,

I think this is a grand idea, and you may count on me to bring some ale and tunes to aid our journey.  Now if I go with you, then is Ms. Lilly on her own?  Maybe we could run back and escort her too.  And I do hope to see some old friends there like Ruby Mae and Rumper and so many others.  We hobbits will enjoy a good traverse like this one.

If you would like me to bring something or help in any way, please just let me know.

Cheers,
Digger Goodsong

Dearest Digger, we wouldn't think of leaving Ms. Lilly behind! I will be happy to do a second run for anyone who wants to bring multiple hobbits into the shadow of Isengard. But you'll have to listen to the song each time we make the run  ;D

I investigated and found Echad Dagoras is too far for a slow march, and lots of mobs disrupt the trip to the road. I've asked Endi for her opinion about some other options, so we'll confirm location soon, but Harndirion has open spaces, and the scouts will only need to clear out a few half-orcs. The slow march to the end of the road from there is 10 minutes, and there's a mob-free spot at the end of the path where we can close the event.

I did some grinding for t4 relics that we can use as prizes for the style contest, Digger is bringing ale, and I have a fair amount of food left over from Blogmoot, so I think we have enough stuff to give out. Now we just need some volunteers: one scout (Mericc/Aqualondo and I will do that part if he's able to attend, but I need another non-hobbit volunteer as backup if he can't make it), lots of entertainers, 2 distributors of provisions, 1-2 taxi service besides myself, and 2 contest judges.

One last thing--Marradon has trouble with the weekend of the 17th, any objections to doing it the weekend before that?

We have to have Ms. Marra with us!  Let's change the date.  And I will bring my lute and pipes too.

I can help with porting and scouting as well, if the time works out for me.

For those of you who haven't been around in-game this weekend, I sent out a kinship mail about the party: Sunday the 11th at 4pm eastern. I sent it to a few other friends as well, and Big and Ravenwing responded enthusiatically, so we should have some SiN attendees as well.  :) I'll try to spread the work through the Leithrim channel as I'm online this week.

Hope to see you all there!
