Volume1 Book-run weekend?
« on: January 24, 2009, 10:40:55 AM »
I have come to realize that there are many, even among our most skilled heroes, who haven't completed all the epic tasks in Eriador. After the way to Moria opened, most have moved on to east, and only occasionally leave the mountain anymore. It has made it slow and difficult for those still in Eregion to proceed with the important and noble tasks they still have there. I only realized that I am not the only one who hasn't been able to find help. So the real problem is how to get these people in need of help together to hel eachother? After discussing it for a while with some others, I desided to reveal these ideas for the kin leaders.

Would it be possible to arrange a book-run weekend? Weekends seem like the best time to do so, and even though it is a very short time, but we had a few ideas about how to make it possible.

One choise is to go throuh books 1-4 on one day, 5-7 on another day, and so on. This ofcourse takes more days than there is in a wekend, and should be extended to another weekend.

Another choise is to have Book-run leaders. One of them leads through books 1-3, and another leads 4-7, and so on. The leaders all do it on the same day. And the people may choose which leader to follow according to which quests he or she needs. That way the whole story my be run through in only one weekend.

Thankyou for hearing my humble suggestions.

I've been struggling to come up with a good way of handling this also.  Groups are so hard to come by now!  I have a whole slew of characters in arrested development:

Kethuthir (42 warden):  1.2.7 (escort quest w/ Radagast), 1.4.8 (escort quest w/ Legolas)
Kethorin (54 guardian):  1.4.8 (escort quest w/ Legolas), 1.8.3? (Angmar fellowship)
Kethras (45 LM) and Meryn (Endingwen's alt, 45 champion):  1.4.5 (caves in Trollshaws)

Kethorin would be happy to help people through Books 1-5, and he can go right on into the upper Books too.  I can also bring a 58 minstrel or a 58 hunter, as the need dictates.

I can certainly understand everyone's excitement w/ Moria, but let's not forget our beginning members either.  Certainly, we have new kin recruits whose needs are much more important than those of my alts, so priority should be given to first-time runners of instances.  Nonetheless, I think one or two groups operating at each tier of Books (1-5, 6-10) should be able to accommodate everyone.  FYI, Book 6 can be soloed at level, but that won't work if we have a group pushing through multiple books in a day.

Any other ideas on this?

Kethrandir and Company:  Kerephor, Kethorin, Kethras, Kethuthir
The House of Keth:  Kethrandir (HTR), Kerephor (MNS), Kethuthir (WDN), Kethras (LM), Kethorin (GRD), Baema (CPT), Borage (BRG)

This sounds like a fine suggestion. We do try to work out fellowships for book runs, in fact just last night we went through books 9, 10 & 11. Myself, in volume one, I am still looking to complete book 15, chapter 14.

This entry in the Lorebook may be helpful in planning:

And I would suggest that we take the actual planning and implementation of any 'book days' to the quests forum:

And use our Calendar:

I, for one, have a need to complete some of these quests... as do Dangar, Perigard... and our other cousins. I would be very happy to participate in these quests and heartily 'second' your suggestion that there be specific nights (days) set aside to do this. Also, I would humbly ask that at least one of these scheduled events take place on the weekend, as I am unable to participate during the week due to work. Thank you so much.

With Hobbity Affection to all...
Baridoc, Dangar, Perigard... and all the cousins.

Bari, my friend,

I agree that pursuing epics just now is a challenge.  I have several folks in my little family who are 'epically-challenged' and would enjoy such an evening.  Instead of organizing by books, it is probably best to get the group together first - those who will help and do.  Then list the quests they are currently needing from the epic story.  From there, the evening will unfold easily.  Another approach might be to simply determine the most shared Book being addressed; start with that and go forward for the evening.

I too am a weekend warrior with my weekdays filled with Lilly and home chores.  So for me this means Fridays and Sundays are the best.

Shire-friend, those days suit me best as well. I know that my friend Dangar, who is a guardian, is on Book 4, ch 7, Book 6 ch 7. He has completed Books 1, 2, and 3, but has done none of the rest. He would be happy to accompany any who also needs these quests. Cousin Folagar, who is a warden, is working on Book3, ch 4, 5, and 6 and book 4, ch 2.

Is it a thought to start a thread here where the kindred can list the books they have yet to complete?

In Hobbity Affection...

I will start a thread under Quests which is generally the place we put these things so we can find them in the future.
