Poker Nights
« on: October 10, 2008, 11:51:10 AM »
Hello good friends:

I was thinking (yes it does hurt at times) why we do not have a poker game with a special prize.  Everyone brings 200 silver (for example) and buys a sit on the game and if you win you get the silver and the prize.  .

Does this violates any of the terms of service?  If we would like to do it.

Take care,

Rumper

Rumper,

We are okay with doing this from a rules and service perspective.  At the moment with races, fishing, fashion contest and beat the dwarf, I think we might make this event one of our Poker Nights.  Most folks don't want to be the dealer and miss all of the fun of the party either.  I tried getting folks interested in a casino style party, and folks didn't shine up well.  But we all love Poker Nights.

Master Digger:

I do not mind being the dealer and doing this in the future.

Just wanted to know if we could and just to put it out there.

Thank you,

Rumper

My Friend Mithasul,

We can for sure.  And let's ask if anyone wants to?  Sort of a high-roller game?

I think that's a great idea.  I would even say that a lot of people would put in 500 Silver for such a fun evening.  Or we could have a high rollers table and a low rollers table.  There's lots we can do, and I think it would be lots of un.

Sounds like fun! Count me in! As long as Staffen leaves his "extra" cards at the door.  ;D

Greetings all!

If it is not to presumptuous of me I will like to nominate myself as dealer for the poker nights.  I think I can bring many interesting things to the table.  First **ahem, clears throat**  I have some connections that can be helpful.  Just people that like to stay in the dark and take shots from afar but always like to help.  My connections tell me that he can speak to a friend that has another friend, this friend can talk to his cousin third degree removed and acquire some items like a slime and some emblems.  I do not know what he is talking about but he said that it is important.  This can be one of the prices for the poker night.  But again I am jumping way ahead ... sorry.

This friend told me that everyone is very busy now with going to a dark dwarf place so a game might not happen until next year since all the holidays are coming and I am proper hobbit and I will be busy all those holidays.  You know I do not know why the fuss about this dwarf place, it is dark and abandoned and most of the food has gone bad and all the ale is already gone and ... OH sorry, back to poker.

I am open for a Friday night but I do not want to presume by setting up a date.  I think that is up to people with more connections than I have maybe like the good hobbit Master Digger (but I hear he is tied up too with the cave) or like the good dwarf Hosklar (I do not know why they call him grumpy and really do not want to find out)  of course there is our most sensible Tur Orophor or our most valiant Finnan but again I am getting distracted.  The point is ...  Hum?  What was the point?

OH!!! a date for poker ... well like I said I think it will be next year since this cave has priority but if we have one I volunteer for dealer.  Now I have to go there are some duties that I have to keep since someone thought proper to make me a Warden.

Just be careful out there,

My name is Guido

I am glad someone is taking an interest in the poker nights again, Guido, and I commend you for the volunteering of yourself. If you are willing to undertake the task of dealing, coordinating, and handling the monies and goods then I think you can certainly take liberties in planning a date for the event. I would throw a date out there and see what you get or maybe get some ideas from those most interested in giving their money away!

I, for one, am not welcome to any gambling event anymore since there were folks that had to take out mortgages on their homesteads when I was through with them the last time :P

Take good care,
Staffen & Alfrun of Dale

Welcome and well meet Volora!

We are almost set for a poker night.  I think that everyone is getting tired of running around in that big cave and will welcome a rest and a good pint.  Since I have appointed myself as the new dealer I will tentatively set a poker night for Sunday February 8 at 8 PM.

For for being poor we do not hold that against you and I fairly certain that we can spot you an adequate sum.  I  will suggest someone else since my financial backing comes with some strings attached.  This hobbit is "organized".  I will put a good word with Rumper or Mith and they will gladly spot you for the evening a good sum.

If this date sounds good please let me know.  I am flexible and open to suggestions.

Take care!

Guido, the dealing hobbit,

I look forward to the vast riches I will win on Sunday, 2/8, at 8pm EST.  I assume our normal place for the game in the Prancing Pony?  Also, I will bring some pipeweed that Tarlwyn has grown recently.  And I do hope someone is bringing a first aid kit for all that slapping - raises welts, you know.

See you there, sir.
