Poker at the Pony Coming This Sunday 9/28
« on: September 22, 2008, 08:30:38 AM »
Fellow Gamblers and Ramblers,

Coming once again at the Prancing Pony in Bree - Poker Night.  The dice are loaded and so are the players.  Slapping is greatly discouraged and that doesn't do a bit to stop it.  Cap'n Staffen will be required to play with one hand behind his back and roll with his toes.

Come one and all to join the fun in an evening of coin-filled fun with your kinfolk.  We will probably start around 8pm or so unless you all want to roll earlier.

Please post here if you are coming so I can get an idea of how many will join us at the Pony.  I could also use another dealer to help me a bit.  If you are interested, just let me know.  Training only takes a couple minutes to learn to deal.

Cheers and Beers,

Master Digger:

With those rules regarding the shady Captain  ;D of course I will come.  Otherwise I will have to bring all my little friends to keep an eye on the Captain.

Count me in but I do not commit on not slapping  :P.

Count me in as well. Last time was a blast!!!!
I would offer my services to deal, but I'm a burglar, and not very good with numbers.  ;)

Ante up.  Five players in now.  Dice are hot to roll.  Anyone else?  Good times and coins await you.

As I recall, we modified some of my original games, creating what might be called Shire Hold'em.  Hosklar helped smooth this out a bit.  I am trying to remember exactly what we did.  I think it was: everyone placed their ante then rolled with a /roll 1000.  This gives each player 3 cards or numbers where 0 is an Ace high.  The dealer then rolled /roll giving two more cards.  Finally, players rolled once more /roll giving them two more cards for a total of seven cards.  Bets are placed after each roll.  No suits or face cards, and only 5 of the cards count in the final call.  (7 of a kind though possible is not valid and becomes 5 of a kind).  Is this correct?

Also, we found that if players place an amount of coins with me the banker/dealer before playing, then they can bet without trading each time.  This makes things move quickly and smoothly.  I keep a spreadsheet of winnings and bets, checking after each hand with the players.

Did I miss anything?
