Ideas and Suggestions / Anniversary time #8!
« on: April 16, 2015, 08:00:58 PM »
Greetings friends!

Almost unbelievably, in a few short weeks the Tinnu uin Galadhrim will be eight (!!!) years old!  An event worthy of celebration?  I certainly think so!

I propose a gathering on the evening of Saturday, May 2.  If another day works better for you, please let us know.  I look forward to seeing you all at the kinhall on May 2!

Off-topic / Re: Server transfers by this spring
« on: February 01, 2015, 10:07:53 AM »
Thank you for posting this, Orophor.

There are really two elements to all this, in my mind:  character transfers and server closings.  Regarding character transfers, it sounds like some of the back-end technology is being developed to ensure that when characters are transferred, the option exists to take with them various account- and character-bound items (marks, housing items, etc.).  Presumably these features will be of benefit to all players, across servers, who are interested in moving their character(s) at some point in time.

The issue of the server being shut down is related to and would require character transfers, obviously, but at this point I'd caution all of us to remain calm and continue gathering information as it becomes available.  I've been following things closely on the LotRO forums, but there are still a number of unknowns that have yet to be clarified by the Devs.  Rumors continue to fly.  If or when Turbine announces its intention to shut down Nimrodel, I'd encourage everyone to discuss and decide on a course of action based on accurate, up-to-date information.  I'm hopeful and confident that some daylight yet remains for the Tinnu uin Galadhrim!

Classes / Interpreting Character Stats
« on: November 19, 2014, 08:29:16 PM »
Particularly following the introduction of the new Essence system, there are now a number of ways to 'build' your character.  It's a confusing world for new players, and even for those who've played LotRO for years.  If you want additional morale, is it better to stack Vitality or raw morale?  As a warden, should I stack Might or Agility?  What's changed since I first started playing?

A great resource to help you navigate these treacherous waters is here:  https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?551751-The-stat-system.  Enjoy and good luck!

Congratulations!  I've heard so many wonderful things about that fair city.  Kethuthir is nearly there and will look for you as soon as he arrives.  Kethrandir is still loitering about Isengard with Endingwen, but they too shall be pushing through the Paths of the Dead soon!

Sounds great!  Additional levels are always a mixed bag for me, but I've been looking forward to exploring Gondor for a very long time.  Time to sharpen my broadheads and arrange my gear for the adventures ahead!  I hope to see you all there!

Ideas and Suggestions / Re: Spring Festival is Here!

Of course I would!  I just logged in and noticed the festival has begun, though I've not yet visited the grounds.  Endingwen and I are likely to be off on some RL adventure this weekend, but perhaps one of these workweek evenings?

Off-topic / Update 13.1 Release Notes and Dev Chat transcript

Two items of potentially great interest to everyone here:

Update 13.1 Release Notes (particularly details regarding the cosmetic pet system):  https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?548051-Update-13-1-Official-Release-Notes

From the Maiar server, a very informative Hobbits to Isengard chat with Sapience and Rowan (including extensive 'back-end' details about future housing updates):  https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?539143-Hobbits-to-Isengard-Q-A-with-Sapience-notes-on-what-was-said&p=7158815#post7158815

General Discussion / Re: May 2nd
« on: May 03, 2014, 09:17:19 AM »
Thank you all for a terrific party!  Orophor, Amryth, Winlar, Perigard, Endingwen, and I traded stories, burned through old fireworks, went fishing, emptied the cellars, and enjoyed a brief, beautiful glimpse of the sunset over the Ered Luin from the community overlook in Falathlorn.  I'm sorry more friends weren't able to join us, but I thank those who did and look forward to seeing all of you in the days to come.

Happy seventh anniversary to the Tinnu uin Galadhrim!

What a bummer!  I hope you're able to get a new system up soon (the building of which, for me, is always the silver lining to a system collapse).

Endingwen and I were on vacation over the past week, but look for us online more often in the days ahead!

I had been looking forward to ESO's launch for many, many months, yet now that it's available, I can't seem to muster the enthusiasm!  The idea of starting a whole new MMO is too much for me at this point.  Summer-time activities are warming up (backpacking, camping, flyfishing, photography, travel...), work is busy, Endingwen is busy, and I'm still enjoying the games I already have.   I'm genuinely glad you all are enjoying your time in Tamriel... from what I saw during beta, it's a spectacular game!  I do miss seeing the three of you, though.  Hopefully our paths cross more often in the future!

It is indeed a milestone worthy of celebration!  Let's do something fun.  Fishing contest?  Musical event?  Skirmish?  Big Battle?  Classic instance?  Some of the new content released with Update 13 (assuming all attendees are lvl 95)?  As always, I'm sure we can muster some stories, campfires, fireworks, and treats for everyone.  Should we aim for May 2 (Friday), or is there a preference for another day?

Thank you, O!  I hadn't given those links much thought, but I'll keep the option in mind as I browse through various sites in the near future.  Your efforts are appreciated!

I'm intensely curious how they intend to pull off a new class, to be honest.  I don't see a whole lot of room given the existing classes, but I might've said the same thing prior to MoM.

Now Digger, cheer up!  A new class provides an opportunity for a whole new adventure narrative as one levels their way through Middle Earth.  An opportunity and challenge both, but hardly a bunch of work!  If the Goodsong Manor finds itself with a fresh face eager for fellowship, I'm sure there will be a fresh face in the House of Keth to aid them in their journey!

I noticed this as well, Bari.  I created a Bosmer character on a lark and woke up in... Daggerfall.   ???  Not sure what the long-term plan is for this.  I also agree with you on the wisdom of an 'open alliance' system.  I get the desire, but...
