Messages - Kethrandir

Pages: 1 [2] 3 4 ... 20
Vyvyanne has announced that transfers off Nimrodel will become available Tuesday, October 13, 2015.  Details and best practices for individual and kinship transfers are posted here and here.

I will be transferring Kethrandir (and therefore the Tinnu uin Galadhrim) from Nimrodel to Landroval (see discussion here) the evening of October 13.  Once the kinship has been reestablished on Landroval, I will post a notice in this thread that it's safe to proceed with individual transfers.  Look for that notice sometime in the late evening of the 13th, or possibly the morning of the 14th.  Please note that once Kethrandir transfers to Landroval, the kinship on Nimrodel will be dissolved.  Don't be alarmed!  We'll all be back together again on Landroval soon!

Please note that multiple options are available through the transfer wizard.  The  recommended two-step transfer order is:

  • Step One:  Kin Leader, Home Owner, and Shared Items (all transferred simultaneously)
  • Step Two:  All Other Characters

In other words, the recommendation is to first transfer your home owner (just that single character), shared items, and any kin-leading alts all at once.  Once that process is complete, re-launch the transfer wizard and transfer all your remaining characters.  The prior recommendation from Turbine to transfer everything and everyone all at once has been implicated in some item losses, hence the two-stage process described above.  I strongly recommend that everyone review the migration guides linked above prior to transferring.  Again, if you intend to rejoin Tinnu on Landroval, please do not transfer any of your Tinnu alts (even your home owner) until the kinship has been reestablished on the new server.

Please post any questions you have in the existing LotRO World Transfers thread, located here.  The time for a deep breath and a leap is nearly upon us!  Make sure all your pies are safely stowed!

General Discussion / Dev. Update Regarding Server Transfers
« on: August 17, 2015, 11:37:30 AM »
Vyvyanne has posted an update regarding timelines and plans for server transfers here:

"I am glad you guys are set to move as soon as possible, but I would recommend a date in September or October  We found some issues in testing on Bullroarer that we would like to resole before launching on Live. We are finishing up that new build now and hope to have it and the first phase of Live transfers started soon. There will be mails sent out in game as soon as transfer is open for each server and we will also be posting here on the forums and in emails as soon as we have dates, but typically notice will only be a couple days in advance at most as we are walking the balance of getting this out as soon as possible while also trying to make it as error free as possible."

The Final March

Here is a link to some pictures I made along the way:

Oh Digger, thank you!  I wish Endi and I had been able to attend alongside you, and I'm grateful that you've posted some pictures for everyone to enjoy.  The shot of you and your rabbit on the steps of Orthanc and the final one of everyone at the statue of Nimrodel are among my favorites.  Cheers!

Announcements / The Tinnu are moving to Landroval!
« on: August 08, 2015, 06:57:26 PM »
To all members and friends of the Tinnu uin Galadhrim-

Our home world of Nimrodel will be closing on January 1, 2016 (  We are therefore moving to Landroval!

A wealth of information regarding this important transition can be found in the link above and elsewhere on the LotRO forums.  We expect Nimrodel residents will be able to begin transferring their character(s) to the server(s) of their choice in the coming weeks.  Importantly, those with characters on Nimrodel beyond January 1, 2016 will always have the option to freely transfer their characters to any of the remaining servers, but Nimrodel will be unavailable for playing beyond January 1.  I'll be posting more details in the weeks ahead (including the kinship transfer date) as additional information and timelines become clear.  In the meantime, please consider monitoring these forums and the official LotRO forums for additional details regarding this important moment in Tinnu's history.

A Kinship Transfer Guide has been posted on the LotRO forums at  For reference, our discussion leading up to the selection of Landroval as our future home can be found at

General Discussion / The Tinnu are moving to Landroval!
« on: August 08, 2015, 06:27:39 PM »

Thanks to everyone who chimed in regarding our move!

Most of you who've posted or contacted me privately have voiced support for a move to Landroval, and the vast majority of the rest have said they'll go wherever the kinship goes.  Notably, no one has suggested one of the alternate US servers (Brandywine, Arkenstone, Gladden, or Crickhollow).  Landroval has been a second home for a few of us for many years now, and I've always enjoyed hearing stories about the many activities and events put on by that community.

So the Tinnu will be moving to Landroval!

As Digger and others have noted, this transition will be much easier if Kethrandir is transferred to Landroval before anyone else, thereby reestablishing the kinship on the new server.  I'll post details about timing and all of that closer to when the transfer service will be opened for residents of Nimrodel.  In the meantime, I hope this early announcement will allow folks to create new characters on Landroval under your intended names (and gaining a level or two on each) to reserve your names.  Please continue to read the LotRO forums for official info, and stayed tuned here on the Tinnu forums for planning details regarding the big move!

General Discussion / A Saturday all-Nimrodel event!
« on: August 06, 2015, 08:48:27 PM »
It's so good to hear from you all!  Thank you, Orophor, for reaching out to all our friends via email.  I regret that I've been on the road all week and have lacked the time to conduct a proper outreach effort.  Once Endi and I are back home (Saturday evening, at the earliest), I plan to look through everyone's input and make an informed decision regarding Tinnu's future home.  Keep that input coming!

On the LotRO Nimrodel forum, Trindal (All Shall Fade) has posted a fun message to the players of Nimrodel (  On Saturday, Aug. 8th at noon EST, a gathering and procession of players (to Weathertop!) will gather at the Prancing Pony.  I regret that I won't be able to attend, but it sounds like a great time!  If you go, please consider posting some screen shots here for everyone to enjoy!

Landroval certainly seems to be a popular choice, but I'd like to hear from a few more of us before a decision is made.  We've reach out to a few recent and past members but have yet to hear back.  For those who've not already done so, please share your thoughts on your preferred server destination within the next few days.  We'll need to make a decision soon to allow people to prepare for the transition.

I appreciate everyone's comments so far!

Truelilly is a lovely name!

Names are tricky things, aren't they?  The name Kethrandir is important to me, and the idea of changing it has alarmed me more than I thought it would.  Kethrandir-1 almost seems preferable to me than Kethranddir or Kethrandiir, but we shall see.

I'm very much looking forward to hearing which 5 US servers will be retained.

Thank you so much, Shire-friend. I was having problems even staying logged in last night. I just updated to Windows 10 and now every time I log in I'm  only there for 30 seconds before I get a 'lost server connection' message.... and for some reason I can't talk in the kinship chat without getting an error. Anyone got any ideas?

Sorry to hear that, Baridoc!  It's a bit of a weird issue, that's for sure.  I'm not seeing any similar reports on LotRO's Windows PC Tech Support forums, but perhaps others will chime in there soon.  A number of people appear to be running LotRO just fine under Win10.   A couple people have reported issues since the last maintenance, so perhaps the issue is unrelated to your OS upgrade.

Thank you for posting this, Endingwen (what a day for me to be on travel!).  And thank you, Digger, for your early comments!

This is truly a big deal.  Now that we have some detailed information, it is indeed time to have a conversation about how we, as a kinship, would like to proceed.  A couple recommendations to you all:

Most importantly, if you intend to remain with the kin (as I hope you all do!), please consider and share with us all your preferred destination server for Tinnu.  Five US servers are planned for retention.  The servers which will remain open are Brandywine, Arkenstone, Landroval (currently the US RP server), Gladden, and Crickhollow [edited with official info].  As the Devs have noted in the links above, Brandywine likely won't be a option for transfers.

I would very much like to hear from you all on this issue.  I realize that this is a period of great uncertainty, but the closing of Nimrodel seems all but certain.  I've said before that I'll continue playing LotRO until the final server is closed, but it is not this day!  I see many wonderful days ahead for the Tinnu uin Galadhrim.  Like baking a pie or assaulting Carn Dum, our path forward just requires some planning!

Dagort deserves extra brownie points for participating despite Endi and me arriving around 2 hours LATE for the adventure!  Thanks for the fun, Dagort!  It was indeed a great time, and I look forward to running the other two new instances (Ruined City and Dome of Stars) with you all soon!

Endi and I will be out of town for the next several days, so we'll be missing out on this weekend's adventuring.  See you all again early next week!

Items / Imbuement Guide
« on: May 04, 2015, 07:47:44 PM »
With Update 16 comes a system to 'imbue' your level 100 Legendary Items, allowing them to continue to gain experience alongside your characters.  A useful guide to this process, including some very useful tips to consider before you imbue your level 100 Items, can be found at  I hope you find it useful!

Quests / Re: Class Promotion Deeds
« on: April 23, 2015, 08:31:51 PM »
If they're the ones I'm thinking of, you may be seeing some of the meta-deeds associated with completing various skill-based deeds.  Each meta-deed has three skill deeds associated with it.  These skill deeds may include things like using a particular skill X number of times, parrying an attack X number of times, etc.  Some of the skill deeds don't unlock until various character levels, so you may not even have those deeds available to you yet.

Terrific!  I think we've traditionally started around 8pm eastern.  Let's aim for then, unless someone has a conflict at that time.  I'm sure we'll all have some fireworks saved up by then!
