Ideas and Suggestions / Re: The website

If you are wondering why the forums look different, our host moved us to a new server, which broke everything. I've managed to restore nearly all of our older functionality, but our old theme is not supported in the new version of the forum software.

Please let me know if you are having any further issues.

It's a great find Endingwen, and I would add the stat caps for U21:

Quests / U21: The Allegiance System
« on: September 05, 2017, 10:33:13 AM »
So one of the new features of the Mordor expansion is Allegiance. It is a bit like reputation, but has four different factions and each faction has a set of story-based quests that unfold over the course of their thirty allegiance levels. You can eventually max out all four groups, however, the order you select decides the speed with which you advance. For example if I join the elves of Lothlorien first, I get a large bonus and move up the ranks quickly, and if I save dwarves for last, I will get no bonus allegiance when I turn in Relics of the Last Alliance to them.

You get relics by completing questing and deeds in Mordor, crafting them, and once you are level 115 and have done all the Mordor quests, daily excursions to Mordor dungeons.

You can learn more about allegiance at the Bearded Minstrel Blog here:

There is a fine blog called the bearded minstrel that has very detailed maps of Mordor from in game. It reminds me a bit of the old Brasse maps. Here's a link:

Items / Online Essence Gear Calculator
« on: July 29, 2017, 09:46:35 PM »
While looking through the official LotRO forums, I came across a post by CaerArianrhod explaining his new site, the Online Essence Calculator. It's handier than some of the alternatives, because there is no spreadsheet to download and no quirks of excel vs open office calc vs libre office calc, vs iwork numbers.

Check it out if you are like me and somewhat puzzled on how exactly you should customize your gear with essences.

Off-topic / Mordor Expansion Details
« on: June 23, 2017, 02:18:39 PM »'s Justin Olivetti posted an article summarizing the developer livestream that gave an early look at Mordor. Highlights are five new regions, level cap to 115, virtue cap to 20, and the high elf race. There is a lot to look forward to in this expansion.

Well May 2017 is upon us, so I went ahead and renewed our hosting. Alas in the process they broke the database for our forums here, but as a wise old elf, I was able to repair it.

Please let me know if you find any bugs with the new server.

Off-topic / LotRO license renewed
« on: January 03, 2017, 12:23:50 PM »
As some of you may recall, Turbine had the license for Lord of the Rings until 2017. Now that the game has gone indie, the new company Standing Stone Games has stated that the license has been renewed, and will continue to be renewed for the lifetime of the game:

Off-topic / LotRO going indie!
« on: December 20, 2016, 06:11:08 PM »
In case you've missed this from the official forums, Turbine/WB is selling LotRO and DDO to a independent game studio made up of its existing LotRO and DDO teams. That studio is called Standing Stone Games, and their games will be globally distributed by Daybreak Games (formerly Sony Online Entertainment and the makers of Everquest). There is a FAQ on the forums, but for the most part, I regard this as good news since WB had announced that Turbine would be focused on mobile games from now on. So LotRO can join Everquest in being a classic MMO without any worrying distraction of trying to make the next PokemonGo game. This really makes me excited for the Mordor expansion now.

General Discussion / Re: Hail friends.

It is good to see you Fireborn. I believe you can still transfer your old characters from Nimrodel. Here is the guide from Turbine:

We moved the kinship to Landroval at the beginning of the year. Kethrandir, Endingwen, and Amryth are still reasonably active. Myself, Digger, and Perigard play but more sporadically.

Hope to see you in Landroval.
